Replacement Cartridge for Philco 47-1227
Just finished the chassis on a Philco radio/phono console 47-1227 and it works great. Now I need to get the phono working. I get a good loud hum when I touch the wires to the cartridge so I'm sure the cartridge is shot. It is an Astatic with the numbers 727 and under that are the numbers 324. Not sure how many volts this cartridge should put out. Don't even want to try to rebuild it. So does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement cartridge that would work in its place?

If it's a standard radio-phono, then, it needs about a 1-1.5 volt cartridge.

Those older crystal cartridges in the Philco put out about 3 volts avg.
And they tracked at about one ounce. (shiver)
