My R-392

Post by silverchris on Mon Apr 07, 2008 12:28 am

This is my first post at this forum. I have recently acquired my first BA, a R-392. It needs a few new tubes and a new BNC connector on the cable that connects the tuning cap for the BFO to the AF chassis(it needs all 5 of the 12AU7s replaced, all 2 of the 26C6s replaced, and a 26A6). When I bought the R-392 it also came with a LS-166 and a homebrew power supply.
Here are some pics

Nice radio. As you know, I have one and I think it's great. Did you get yours going?

I realize that these are old posts but I thought that maybe I could stir up some discussion.

Actually it was working sorta ok, until I was trying to figure out a low signal issue and found the slug of T801 to be cracked...

you may be able to super glue the slug. If it is sealed with wax you can remove the wax with ear wax remover such as Debrox without damaging the coil form.

The R-392 is a repackaged R-390 for mobile use. They sure did pack every thing in there. One is on Ebay for sale, may still be.I have a R-388,R-391 both got lots of space. Now you need the T-195 to go with the R-392 ,they pop up from time to time. You may be able to use a slug from a junker set 388,390,391,not sure but they should all be the same size.Sprman : )

What a great tip, I never even thought of that! I just added some Debrox to my wife's shopping list. Thanks.
