Some Sellers Don't Have a Clue How to Package a Shipment

Post by moses_007 on Mon Feb 23, 2009 7:14 pm

This morning I received some 45rpm records I won on eBay, and the guy just inserted them in a large flat Priority Mail (non-padded) envelope and sent them out. Guess what, one record arrived broken. I'm surprised all 7 weren't broken. No padding whatsoever, no cardboard around the records. What a dummy!!! Anyone with half a lick of sense would know better than this.

To top that off, he is a power seller and I can't leave negative or neutral feedback for one week. Now that's great too.

End of my rant.

It makes you wonder doesn't it? I buy more than I sell and have received my share of damaged items. When I do sell a radio, I pack it survive a nuke attack. I always double box and use plenty of padding.
To ship records in an envelope without padding is just reckless.

Common sense is uncommon.

I too have received many items broken due to improper packing (and I am being kind with my words). However, no one has ever received an item from me with any type of damage. I always get good comments on the shipping. Let's face it, we usually know how to do a good packing job...

The guy emailed me back that he usually ships 7 or so records this way, and never has had any broken. He offered to replace the record, plus throw in a few extras for free, so I picked out four records from what he has available for this artist. I asked him to please, please, put cardboard around them this time.

I just got an RCA 8R76 with a plastic cabinet shipped from NJ via USPS. As soon as I saw the box I knew it, opening the box revealed a couple of wads of newspaper with the radio on the bottom. Both rear feet snapped off, the chassis pulled from the cabinet, knobs off, etc. Sent the seller an email stating that the poor packing job led to the busted cabinet to which he replied, and I quote, "There was NOTHING wrong with my Packing, Don't
try to bid my auctions again ,as you are a
blocked bidder. I don't need whiners". Wow , like I'd EVER buy from HIM again....

What a psycho... how about going after Paypal for your money back, with your story of course? Hope you left a negative. Seems most sellers are nut cases.
