Plasti Dip
This is good stuff to dip your cam wheels for 45rpm record players. You want to barely dip it in the liquid rubber while turning it with your hand. I've used it successfully on a couple of players, and today I'm going to dip a few more cam wheels. It is available at a regular hardware store for around $10.

Re: Plasti Dip
I just dipped three cam wheels and they came out looking pretty good. Now I'll have to let them dry until later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Re: Plasti Dip
I installed one of the dipped cams in a player I was working on today and it cycles perfectly.

Re: Plasti Dip
Bill Cahill told me on the phone a month or so ago he thought the plasti dip would just peal off the cam wheel after using it awhile. I don't know what the life of adding this to a cam is, but I would hope it would last a few years at the least. It is, in essence, like a recapped tire.

Re: Plasti Dip
Be careful of that stuff, it has some carcinogenic chemicals (unless they removed them).

I only use it outside, then if I accidently get any on my fingers, I wash up real good. There's a warning on the label that officials in California have determined it may cause cancer.
