.... Also picked this up in Orlando.......

Post by Bill Cahill on Sat Feb 14, 2009 6:40 pm

I also picked up this neat gem at the Orlando phonograph show. A Symphonic record player operated by a clock... See pictures.

I've never seen a record player with a clock. Does it wake you up to music???

Yes, it's meant to do that. I think it's also meant to be able to put you to sleep, then, shut off.
Someone apparently added an earphone jack.
Not original, but, it's proffessionally done.
It's neartly wired to the speaker inside.
It's an odd ball clock.
Time set is done with the center knob in front.
Will even just go off like a regular alarm clock, and, loudly buzz as on the radios.
Neat toy.

Sorry, guys. But, it matches the color in my kitchen.
I also have evidence it was once the color in at least one of the other rooms in the house.
Besides, I like this toy.

Clock phonos are fairly scarce. I also have a 1956 GE portable clock tv I picked up from John Folsom a year ago, or, so.
Not as rare, but, not common, either.
Oh, Don, that other project is nearly done now. You know which one.

Great find Bill, while I don't usually collect phonographs, I would definitely picked up this one for sure if I had the chance.

Haven't rebuilt it yet.
I tried it on variac when I first got it.
Clock is dead, and, pop riveted together, and, into case.
Phono motor worked, but, I got smoke from amp.
I think paper filter is shot.
Hope to get back on it this summer.
