Simplify forum rules

Post by Bill Cahill on Sun Jun 27, 2010 12:19 pm

It has been discussed over the past couple of years. Too manny rules. I decided to simplify the forum rules. Our posters here have been great ladies, and, gentlemen, so, I just thought I'd try to simplify the rules.
Here they are.....

-NO personnel stabs or threats
-No backstabbing anyone from any other forums
-No flame wars, or, flame baiting.
-No swearing. An occasional damn, or, other word is understandable, but deliberate continued sussing, and, foul language will be dealt with.
- politics are allowed within reason. (at least no heated arguments) it is okay if someone brings up a topic within reason, make your own judgment call on this, moderators will lock if necessary. However, if it is only questionable, e mail, or, pm a moderator, or, me, and, we will look into it.
-If something starts to turn ugly a moderator, or I will post a warning and keep an eye on it…
-No Porn . Period. No porn links, no sex sites, etc. Anything like this will be dealt with, including possible banning.
-No spam-No explicit images/content of any sort, including links.
Spam is instant banning.
-NO FINGER POINTING

Discussions/debates are okay with me as long as they do not become personnel or vulgar… Please, no attacks. Argue the post civilly… Treat everyone with at least some sort of respect… We are all nice guys; try not to say anything at all if you can’t say nothing nice… Moderators will use their own discression for the rules, I STAND BY THEM ON ALL OF THEIR CHOICES… if you want to flame/ complain about rules, take it up with me personally, I hold all responsibility, I AM THE ONLY PERSON THAT DELETES THREADS, no one else unless with major good reason (porn/spam)

I generally don’t ban folks unless their membership Is solely to do harm…

Feel free to email me with concerns,

Sincerely,
Your forum admin,

Bill Cahill

I guess I'm kinda like Denver. If I wanted to argue about all that other stuff, I'd go find a forum that was set up for that. I'd rather talk about old radios.

That's fine. I'm all for that. I am just trying to help others who have complained that I have been against politics.
I'm just trying to have this as a friendly place.

Bill, its a radio forum. If you tolerate any political discussion you know where people's opinions may tend to lead a thread. Me, I go with the flow. I don't talk radios on political forums. People would think of me as a nutter.

I don't think political discussion is appropriate here but at the same time I don't think that throwing the hammer at a thread because someone sneaks in buzzwords like "Limbaugh" is appropriate either.

The best thing to do is that if an issue comes up is for the Moderator to just snip it and put in a comment like "Out of Bounds" so that people can get the gist of the limits that are tolerated. Killing threads and deleting posts by an anonymous 'moderator' is sometimes like throwing gas on the fire.

Thanks, Bill. I'll keep that in mind, and, look into it. I really don't like politics, but, it seems people here do.
Maybe just put curbs on it? Who knows.....
Anyway, happy radios, guys.....

Ain't no curb to put. You either allow it or not. Halfway creates trouble.
