How to post pictures

Post by tube42 on Thu Mar 13, 2008 2:25 pm

Hello everyone this forum should teach you how to post pictures.

This forum has quite better software than ARF.

Here is how to do it here

Above your text box you have a number of options.

1. Copy the link to the image you would like to post .
2. Select the image button in the tool bar above. It has the picture of a small Polaroid picture.
3.When you click this button a small box with a text field should come up. Paste Your link here.
4. Click OK and your image code will be automatically inserted into your message!

And your done!

Post any questions if you still have trouble!

Do the pictures have to be in photobucket? I've got mine in Flickr.

I guess they have to be because my attachments don't work.

Well, it does. If you try to link a photo out of some sort of site that requires a log-in for public viewing then it won't work. Thats often the case with photos posted in Yahoo! Groups. And even on some public sites there's usually an option to make the photos public vs public. Thats normally the default, though.

On the photo sites you will see your photos in different formats and configurations. There will be thumbnails, etc. Just make sure you are using the URL of the PHOTO, not the page the where the photo is located. Photobucket makes this a no-brainer. I'm not familiar with Flickr. The giveaway clue will be that the URL should end in .jpg (or. gif) If thats not showing as the URL location bar it probably won't work for linking.

Robin, I see one of your non-working links in the "what do you collect" thread. Its linking to the page, not the photo. The Forum won't recognize that. Right click on the photo and click to view image (or the equivalent on your browser.) You'll get a different URL that ends in jpg and shows only the photo instead of all the falderol from the flickr page.

Here's that link.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3072/2604190317_57178dea65.jpg?v=0

Enclose it in the commands and it will show. Strip off the ?v=0 junk after the .jpg Thats just page counting junk and often confuses things.

Voila.

There's some other ways to accomplish the same goal but you have to link to the photo, not the page that it is on.

I JUST POSTED A PHOTO OF A 1937 WESTERN DIAL FACE IN THE GALLERY SECTION STRAIGHT FROM MY COMPUTER. IF I WANTED TO SHOW A PHOTO IN WHATEVER FORUM SECTION / TOPIC I AM IN WHY CAN'T I JUST POST A PHOTO IN THE GALLERY AND REFERENCE TO THAT URL LINK?

You can, or, just post the picture in your post.
