Looks like Alan switched back temporarily to the old server. He made a post that the site will be down again this weekend for a minimum of a couple days to get the files switched over to the new server.

It's down again. He should have just left it offline this week until he gets it finished, but guess he was trying to be accommodating.

Enter ARF at your own risk!!
Everybody is convinced Alan has it fixed. However, I knew better, and, Alan even said heps temporarily back on the old server. The new server is corrupted, and, they have to remove everything, and, start all over again.
Forums will be down at least this week end.
I tried postingin there, and, just as I was sending, the forums locked, and, locked up my computer. My computer crashed! Be careful until the new forums are up on the new server next week.

I know. It crashed my computer tonight.
Alan is going to work on it this weekend, again.
We are still using the old bad server.

I think I'll just stay over here this week. I like this place. Even if ARF starts working perfectly, I'll still come over here a lot.

I couldn't agree more! There's a bit more freedom with topics and everyone seems to behave well and be respectful of each other. (for the most part). It may not have as many users as ARF, but that will likely change as word spreads.

I tried ARF earlier and it locked-up my computer as well. I feel bad for Alan; I'm sure it's frustrating as heck when you spend all that time and effort anticipating an end to the problems that have plagued ARF for some time now. I know I'm not the most patient person in the world- I don't mind fixing things when I have to, but hate having to do them over again.

Looks like Alan is working on it again. The old board is not working and the blue and white is back. But says it is not available. Be patient, please Laughing

This is a fine Forum.

But I like ARF.I suppose some of it is familiarity.

These "shut downs" can be frustrating- but I feel I have no
right to complain. It is a free service provided by someone who obviously
enjoys or gets some satisfaction out of running it- and, all in all, he does a fine job.

To complain about it when there are problems, reminds me of the time I was in a line outside of a hamburger 'shack'.
A homeless man was hanging around looking pitiful.I asked him if he would like a hamburger. He nodded in the affirmative.I got the burgers, and handed him one- he seemed appreciative. He opened up the wrapper, and his face suddenly had a look of disappointment.I asked him if anything was wrong?
He replied: "I don't like cheese...". Rolling Eyes

I was just at the ARF site, and, picked up this message on a blank white page.

Things are taking longer than expected. I'm currently waiting for the database guru helping me to have time to import the backed up data into the batabase on the new server.
To answer all the inquiries, no, I don't know when this will happen, but hopefully soon.

Sorry for the delay, but it's something I've not been able to figure out on my own and have to rely on someone else who has limited time to do this for me.
