Voltage down

Post by denver on Thu Feb 18, 2010 1:23 am

Philco model 111 voltage at electrolytic caps around 475 .Checked filter choke checks good resistors check good.
This will probaly put a strain on transformer &80 recitifier tube . Any way i can get voltage down in the line ?e
Checked everything for a short it calls for a 4.7uf@450 volts . Keeps blowing it . Put a 20mfd@450 doesn,t blow.
THIS IS ON TERMINAL 10 IN BIG CAP BLOCK. The other electrolytic cap from terminal 9 to 3 does fine.
Any ideals THANKS DENVER. Sad Rolling Eyes

OK check the speaker field coil to see if its shorted.Look at the 80 output that goes to 2 resistors check them.Have you ckecked tube socket resistanes for all tubes.Check the 45 tubes sockets for shorts to ground same with the 80.Check for and globs of solder that might short out to ground.Sprman : )
