For power supply circuits, you can go as high as 100% of the original value but it can raise your voltage. For any other application, I wouldn't go over 20% of the original value.

If the cap is too big it will load down the power supply in trying to charge them up. Too much current and then poof! on the power supply. You had better stay with the 100% over and no more to be safe I would say myself 20% and no more. As suggested by Motorola man!
